NSW Police have wrapped up their 2026 King’s Birthday Police Operation which concluded on Monday night with seven people injured in crashes recorded for the Oxley and New England Police Districts.
In the region, 5,585 drivers were stopped for roadside testing with 10 drivers having alcohol in their system, 28 drivers tested positive to drugs, 170 drivers’ issued fines for speeding, 5 for seatbelt infringements and 1 mobile phone fine.
On Sunday night, New England Highway Patrol officers stopped a Holden sedan travelling on Thunderbolt Way near River Road in the Rocky River area and breath tested a 17-year-old male P plate driver which allegedly returned a positive roadside breath test.
He was arrested and taken to Uralla Police Station where he returned a breath analysis reading of 0.243.
The boy, who also had his licence suspended, was issued a Court Attendance Notice for high range drink driving and is due to appear at Armidale Local Court on Monday 20 July 2026.
