Picture Perfect Conditions for Cultural Burn

by | Aug 26, 2024 | Arts & Culture | 0 comments

Perfect weather conditions allowed for the planned Cultural Burn of a section of Ross Hill Reserve to be conducted on Friday.

The burn workshop, a partnership project between Inverell Shire Council, Northern Tablelands Local Land Services and Banbai Rangers under supervision by RFS personnel, was an opportunity of maintaining the area to reduce fuels loads and control weeds in the vicinity.

Rangers described the process to community members in attendance, before commencing the burn under traditional burning protocols.

Indigenous youth were educated in the methods used to reduce fuel loads whilst protecting Country and then assisted the rangers to conduct the cultural burn.

The workshop was a success and will pave the way for further projects of this nature in the future.
