Outgoing Mayor Resigns from Glen Innes Council

by | Oct 11, 2024 | Community, Politics | 0 comments

Former Glen Innes Severn Mayor Rob Banham has resigned from council after a shock announcement.

Former Mayor Banham received 28% of primary votes at the September Local Government elections, while recently appointed Mayor Margot Davis received only 17% as a 1st preference vote.

He says despite the clear community support, he believes current councillors have not prioritised the best interests of the community in their decision making.

Mr Banham has also addressed the concerning issue of personal disagreements among councillors that have become public, saying such behaviour has no place in council decision-making and reflects poorly on those unable to separate private matters from council business.

Mr Banham thanked the community for their unwavering support as he looks forward to engaging with the community in different ways.
