The countdown is on for this year’s Bingara Orange Festival which officially kicks off today with the annual orange picking and harvest ceremony which pays respect to the town’s fallen soldiers.
The 65th Orange Festival has a huge program scheduled for tomorrow with live performances kicking off at 10am on the main stage and the official opening being held at 10:45 with Gwydir Shire Mayor Tiffany Galvin and Willoughby City Council Mayor Tania Taylor celebrating the 30th anniversary of the exchange student program between the two Councils.
During the day, visitors will enjoy the Kids Zone near the Bingara Museum, roving performances from Chewbacca, stilt walkers and Zozo the Giant Alien slinky, a vintage car display and tours of the Roxy theatre.
The day continues into the afternoon with the Rodeo at the Showgrounds and fireworks at 8pm
