Opening Date Announced! The Mystery Rooms Escape Experience in Glen Innes

Just in time for the school holidays, Glen Innes Severn Council is pleased to share that The Mystery Rooms – a state-of-the-art escape room venue – will open in Glen Innes on Thursday, 2 October 2025.

The idea for a new tourism experience grew out of the community’s call for more “things to do” during the development of Council’s last Economic Development Strategy and Destination Management Plan.

Council successfully secured $120,000 in funding through the Regional Tourism Bushfire Recovery Fund – an initiative of the National Bushfire Recovery Agency delivered by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade). Council provided this funding to the successful proponent, the owners of The Mystery Rooms, who were engaged through a competitive tender process to deliver and operate the venue in Glen Innes.

The project was delivered within budget and in accordance with the funding guidelines.

The project has resulted in an exciting new attraction for the town, offering visitors a memorable, interactive experience and strengthening Glen Innes as a destination for tourism.

Mayor Margot Davis said, “Bringing The Mystery Rooms to Glen Innes is about more than just entertainment — it’s about creating educational activities that enrich both our local community and visitors alike.

Our priority is to support projects that first address real gaps in what our town offers, ensuring they have meaningful impact for residents.”
“At the same time, these experiences provide compelling reasons for tourists to choose Glen Innes, encouraging them not just to visit once, but to return and explore more of what we have to offer,” Cr Davis said.

The venue incorporates cutting-edge technology and world-class design, inspired by escape room experiences in Melbourne, Geelong and other global destinations such as Las Vegas, London, and Paris.

Located at 15–19 East Avenue, Glen Innes, The Mystery Rooms offers two immersive escape room experiences: a Jungle Adventure and a Jurassic-themed challenge. Each is designed to engage participants in teamwork, problem-solving, and creative thinking, making it ideal for families, friends and corporate groups.
