NSW Police Warn of Scammers

by | Jun 2, 2026 | Police News

NSW Police have issued a warning to residents about people being contacted about job offers via SMS

Scammers are posing as recruiters offering well-paid, flexible, task-based work opportunities with companies like Amazon and YouTube.

The community are being urged to be on the look out for warning signs including an unexpected contact from a ‘recruiter’ via SMS or encrypted messaging, jobs offering a high salary for little work and effort, jobs that require no experience, qualifications or references that you can perform remotely, being told to pay with your own money to make more money and job details being vague but are about rating products or optimising listings.

Anyone believed to have been or suspected to have been a victim of a data breach or identity theft, should contact ID Support NSW and report the scam to the ReportCyber website.
