Northern Tablelands Region to Get Drier

by | Aug 13, 2026 | Agriculture, Weather

The NSW Combined Drought Indicator shows that approximately 37% of NSW is in one of the Drought Affected categories as of 31 July.

Rainfall variability continues to create contrasting seasonal conditions in NSW, with strong recovery in some regions and ongoing drought impacts in others with the ongoing variability in local conditions and the seasonal outlook to continue to influence producer planning and decisions over the coming months.

The report reveals that drought conditions will likely intensify in northern, central and eastern NSW with areas of the Hunter and Northern Tablelands likely to transition into the Indicators Intense Drought category

The most likely outcome is for drought conditions to persist across much of central, northern and eastern NSW until the 31st of October.
