With counting continuing this week from the recent Local Government elections, focus will soon turn to who will be elected Mayor of their respective council.
Paul Harmon has indicated he would throw his hat in the ring again to be Mayor while Kate Dight, who was Inverell Shire’s Deputy Mayor, remained tight lipped whether she would challenge Mr Harmon at Mayoral Elections when the new Council first meets on October 9.
In Uralla Shire, ratepayers have voted to keep Robert Bell as Mayor for the next 4 years while over in Glen Innes Severn Shire incumbent Mayor Robert Banham confirmed he would contest for the role again.
Gwydir Shire will be searching for a new Mayor following the departure of long-standing mayor John Coulton.
