Following Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s cabinet reshuffle, Julie Collins has replaced Murray Watt as the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.
The Tasmania MP says she’s committed to engaging and listening to rural communities and representing Australia’s farmers in the Albanese Labor Government.
Minister Collins says she looks forward to continuing the good work of Senator Watt and congratulated her colleague Senator Anthony Chisholm on his new role as Assistant Minister for Agriculture.
Ms Collins, who moves from the Housing portfolio, highlighted what the party had achieved since the 2022 federal election, including the establishment of the $10 billion Housing Australia Future Fund, a new $9.3 billion 5-year National Agreement on Social Housing and Homelessness and an historic agreement at National Cabinet to build 1.2 million homes by the end of the decade
