New England Police District have issued a reminder for the community that Gel Blasters are not legal and must be surrendered immediately.
This follows an incident which occurred in Inverell early last month where a man was caught waving around what appeared to initially look like a black revolver in front of Inverell Police Station, however was later discovered to be a black Gel Blaster.
Police advise that Gel Blasters are classed as an air gun, which is considered a firearm and hand-gun type Gel Blasters as a Pistol.
On July 1st 2021, the former Liberal State Government commenced an ongoing National Firearms Amnesty which allows for any firearms or firearm related articles to be surrendered to a police station without fear of prosecution.
