New England MP Barnaby Joyce says the electorate is well short of major funding investment needed to keep the nation at a standard of living which it has grown accustomed to.
It follows last week announcements of federal government funding to four New England projects, including over $550,000 for the Lake Inverell Enhancement and $600,000 for the ANZAC Park Playground Upgrade in Glen Innes
Despite welcoming the announcement, Mr Joyce says the New England provides earnings for the country through various exports dollars from cotton, wool, beef, sheep, and chicken and should be rewarded.
He says investment in the New England region is vital for Australia’s wealth.
