Former QLD police officer Bob Gee has been appointed Queensland’s new Cross-Border Commissioner, taking over from Acting Cross-Border Commissioner Damian Walker.
Mr Walker was appointed to the position in the wake of the sudden passing of previous Commissioner Ian Leavers in November.
Mr Gee, who has worked as the Director-General in several Queensland Government departments, brings a wealth of knowledge that provides a strong understanding of cross-border issues affecting the region.
Goondiwindi Regional Council state Mr Gee’s experience uniquely positions him to understand government processes and drive reforms that benefit border communities.
Mr Gee’s first official visit as Cross-Border Commissioner will be to Goondiwindi next week, where he will meet with local stakeholders and councillors.
