The NSW Nationals have called on the State and Federal Labor governments to ensure regional communities won’t be cut off after REX Airlines went into voluntary administration earlier this week.
Leader of the NSW Nationals, Dugald Saunders says it’s the second regional carrier facing the possibility of collapse after Bonza suspended their operations in April, adding the news is very concerning and will have a flow on effect for anyone who lives and works in the bush.
According to Mr Saunders, 1 in 7 million Australians living outside the city relying on companies like REX to access the services they require, with Mr Saunders saying the Premier needs to pick up the phone to his federal counterparts and make sure there’s a clear plan to mitigate the impact this will have on our communities.
All REX 737-operated flights have been grounded; however, Saab 340 flights will continue for the time being.
