Glen Innes have cemented their top two position after claiming an exciting 1 wicket win over Staggy Creek at Varley Oval on Saturday in Round 12 action in the Inverell Cricket competition.
Staggy made a competitive 8/165 with Tom Nelson top scoring with 60 but it was Glen Innes’ Kayne Campbell who was the pick of the bowlers claiming 4/17.
In reply, Sumit Jamwal with 60 and an unbeaten 36 from Campbell guided Glen Innes to victory with one wicket in hand.
In the other game, Campbell and Freebairn Rebels escaped with an 80-run victory against Delungra at McCosker 2 after at one stage being 8/77.
A ninth wicket partnership of 155 runs by Zac Wade and Billy Higgins restored the innings with Rebels finishing on 8/232.
Delungra put in a gallant effort in the run chase but fell short to be dismissed for 152 with Rebels youngster Lachie Savage claiming 4/12
