Multicultural Festival to Bring Colour and Community Spirit to Inverell This Sunday

by | Mar 12, 2026 | Local Government, Media Release, Sport

Inverell is set to come alive this Sunday, 15 March, as the town hosts the vibrant Multicultural Festival at the Lake Inverell Off‑Road Circuit, celebrating community, culture and sport as part of the festivities surrounding the ProVelo Super League women’s and men’s criterion race with some of Australia’s top riders.

The Multicultural Festival will kick off at 11:30am, offering a diverse range of international and local food stalls. Locals and visitors alike are invited to enjoy the atmosphere while cheering on athletes competing in one of the region’s most iconic cycling events.

Before the racing action begins, the community is encouraged to lace up for the Dash for Cash, held prior to the start of the women’s race. Registrations for the Dash for Cash are being accepted by visiting https://events.humanitix.com/rouseabout-dash-for-cash. The ladies’ criterion will follow the Dash for Cash at 1:15pm, with the men’s race commencing later in the day.

Mayor Cr. Kate Dight says the festival is designed to showcase the rich cultural diversity of the Inverell region while supporting the excitement of the Criterion.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for the whole community to come together, whether you’re here for the cycling, the food, or simply a great day out. We’re proud to celebrate the many cultures that make Inverell such a welcoming and dynamic place.”

The community is encouraged to head to Campbell Park for the Sapphire City Markets from 7:30am and then join the festivities at the Lake Inverell Off-Road Circuit from 11:30am.

The Multicultural Festival and the criterion are free to attend and families are encouraged to bring picnic blankets and take part in a day that blends sport and culture.

The event follows on from the gruelling 228km Grafton to Inverell Cycle Classic on Saturday, which will see 7 local riders tackle one of Australia’s toughest 1 day cycle races.
