Northern Tablelands MP Brendan Moylan has discussed the staffing issues with local paramedics at Inverell Ambulance station following a meeting last week.
Mr Moylan says local paramedics are concerned at the rostering system, which has them working more shifts, more overtime and working single shifts to ensure the roster is filled to cover vacancies due to staff on leave.
As an example, Mr Moylan says if a station had 16 paramedics and 6 were on leave, the roster system was still operating with 16 paramedics and not adjusting it back to 10 paramedics.
He says another issue is paramedics applying six months ahead for long service leave are not getting a response back sooner, forcing paramedics to delay booking holidays.
