Moylan Calls on Feds to Address Doctor Shortage in the Bush

by | Sep 26, 2025 | Politics, Health | 0 comments

Northern Tablelands MP Brendan Moylan has called on the federal government to address the lack of medical professionals in rural NSW.

Speaking on STA FM this week, Mr Moylan says this is the underlying issue with the current state of health care in regional and rural NSW and called on the federal government to pull their finger out and acknowledge there is a shortage immediately.

Mr Moylan says the federal government is responsible for the number of doctors in Australia and until the government acknowledges there’s a shortage of G.Ps in the bush, the problem will grow.

He issued a possible suggestion that the government could do to address the G.P shortage in the bush, including targeting regional universities, like UNE, and opening up placements for local students to study medicine instead of turning them away.
