Double demerits are in place in NSW and ACT for five consecutive days from midnight Thursday until midnight this Monday over the 2025 Easter long weekend and then four consecutive days from Thursday 24th April to Sunday 27th April over the ANZAC Day long weekend.
During double demerit periods, double demerit points apply for speeding, illegal use of mobile phones, not wearing a seat belt and riding without a motorcycle helmet.
Motorists are also warned that Mobile Phone Detection Cameras are active in NSW and drivers caught using their phones during a double demerit period will be hit with a $410 fine or $544 if caught in a school zone and 10 demerits.
The NRMA ask travellers to please drive safely and take extra care on the roads to protect yourself, your loved ones and all road users.
