Inverell Saints midfielder Gabby Mooney has once again finished runner-up in the AFL Northwest Women’s Best & Fairest Count held online last night.
Mooney finished with 12 votes, 6 votes away from eventual winner Katrinia Rekunow from the Gunnedah Poochettes who finished with 18 votes.
Several forfeits received by the Saints through the season proved costly for Mooney who won the award in 2019 and 2021 and has been runners up on several occasions.
2nd year player Clare Eley was the next best Saints player finishing equal 4th.
In better news, Saints forward Katrina Doak won the Leagues goal kicking award, Rising star went to Tamworth Swans youngster Sophie Weekes while Rekunow won the Coaches award.
The Tony Gillies Medal will be awarded to the League’s best men’s player tonight.
