Stargazers have been left in awe after a meteor was spotted last night, lighting up the night sky.
Seen in QLD and NSW, the meteor was spotted at around 7:30 making a sensational entrance with some observers also witnessing a massive boom near Stanthorpe.
The phenomenon is part of the Lyrid meteors which occur once a year, usually between April 16 and April 29, though the peak occurs on April 22 to 23 and can be seen with the naked eye.
Stargazers who missed the radiant sight last night will have another opportunity to catch it again this evening.
