Mayoral elections held last week around the region has seen most Councils maintain stability.
The news comes following the re-election of Kate Dight and Jo Williams as Inverell Shire’s mayor and Deputy mayor on Wednesday.
In Gwydir Shire, Cr Tiffany Galvin was re-elected as Mayor and Cr Sean Coleman re-elected as Deputy Mayor at last week’s Ordinary Council Meeting in Warialda with both positions uncontested.
Mayor Galvin says ‘I’m absolutely honoured and deeply grateful for the support shown by my fellow Councillors. It is a real privilege to continue serving as Mayor, and I’m excited about what we can achieve together over the coming years. Gwydir is a wonderful place with passionate people, strong communities and enormous potential. There was a challenge for the Mayor and Deputy mayor positions in Glen Innes Severn Council with Cr David Scott unsuccessful in his bid to overthrow both Mayor Margot Davis and Deputy Mayor Carol Sparks with the incumbents returning after winning a close vote.
Over in Uralla Shire Council, Mayor Robert Bell congratulated Cr Jen Philp on her election as Deputy Mayor for the next 12 months, replacing Cr Kath Arnold who’s been in the position for the past 12 month.
Mayor Bell says Council looks forward to working with Cr Philp as she supports the Mayor and Council in serving the Uralla Shire community.
