A 30-year-old Inverell man was arrested by police following the assault of a 26-year-old Inverell man on Byron Street on Friday night.
The 26-year-old man was struck was a blunt object requiring hospitalisation and sutures to his head.
It’s understood the pair had been involved in an altercation at a licensed premises prior to the incident.
The 30-year-old was charged with assault occasionally actual bodily harm and will appear at Inverell Local Court 24th of July.
Police say further charges are likely to be laid in relation to the initial incident at a licensed premises.
Police will also be reporting the 30-year-old to the Inverell liquor accord where he will be banned from all licensed premises for a specified period due to his violent and disorderly contact at/near a licensed premises.
