New England Police have arrested a man after a 33-year-old man died following an assault at a campground at Ebor yesterday morning.
Just after 1:30, emergency services received a report of an assault at a campground off Point Lookout Road and upon arrival, police were told two men had a verbal altercation before one of the men seriously assaulted the other.
The injured man was then driven to Thora about 25km northwest of Bellingen, where NSW Ambulance paramedics attempted to treat him; however, he died at the scene.
A crime scene has been established and New England detectives – with assistance from State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad – have commenced an investigation into the incident.
Following investigations, police arrested a 26-year-old man on Waterfall Way off Pipeclay Street, Ebor, about 11.30 yesterday morning and took him to Armidale Police Station.
Investigations into the incident are continuing.
