Update

A 27-year-old man has been refused bail and remains behind bars after facing court yesterday over an alleged stabbing in Guyra on Sunday afternoon.

Police called to a home on Sole Street, about 1.45pm after receiving reports of a stabbing and were told the offender allegedly stabbed a man in his 30s in the back during an argument at the home, before leaving the scene.

The man was taken to Armidale Hospital where he was treated for a laceration to his back and was later released.

Following inquiries, police attended a unit on Canambe Street, where they found Dion McMahon allegedly fleeing the home and making attempts to jump over the fence but was subsequently arrested, allegedly in possession of a hunting knife at the time and attempting to resist arrest.

Several officers suffered minor lacerations during the arrest.

McMahon was charged with Wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, Hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty, Assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm, and Carry cutting weapon upon apprehension.

The matter is back in the Courts in August
