With both their bags and instruments packed, the Sapphire City Concert Band set off for Ballina tomorrow ahead of a combined concert performance with the Ballina Shire Concert Band.
It will be the band’s first trip to Ballina, a reciprocal visit with Ballina Shire Concert Band making the first trip last year to Inverell as part of a regional tour in celebration of the band’s 140th anniversary.

The band are scheduled to arrive at Ballina by lunch tomorrow, with both bands rehearsing throughout the afternoon, before a concert performance at St Mary’s Anglican Church that evening followed by a matinee performance at the Cherry St Sports Club which will see over 50 playing members perform for the public.
This weekend’s trip marks the start of a very busy performing schedule for the band in the lead up towards the Christmas festivities.
