by | Nov 25, 2025 | Sport | 0 comments

Inverell has two new boxing sensations with Evan Cullen and Riley Bartlett becoming national champions in their respective age groups at the National Boxing Championships held on the Gold Coast last week.

Evan, in his first professional bout claimed the 10-12 age group title while Riley was crowned the 14-16 years age group champion.

Coached by Darren and Dean Finn from SAS Boxing and Martial Arts Centre, the pair came up against far more experienced boxers and impressed with their composure, control, determination and resilience.

Another boxer, Austin Manallo also impressed but came up against the current the Australasian titleholder from Victoria in the Intermediate 17-19 age group with the judges awarding the decision to the Victorian boxer in a close split decision, finishing in 4th place.

Mr Finn says he’s remarkable proud of each boxer, highlighting Inverell has had national senior champions including John Berger, Charles Boney, Ricky Sandral and himself but believes it’s the first time local junior fighters have claimed a national title.
