THE state-of-the-art Inverell Aquatic Centre is one of the 3 locations across NSW gearing up to host the 2026 Country Regional Swimming Championships on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 January 2026, bringing together regional swimming talent from all over New South Wales for two days of elite competition.

Swimming NSW CEO Kirsten Thomson said the Championships will be a highlight on the regional sporting calendar.

“The Country Regional Swimming Championships are a celebration of the dedication, passion and achievement of swimmers from across regional NSW.”

“We’re delighted to return to Inverell, which now boasts a fantastic aquatic facility that’s the perfect stage for competition and community spirit.”

The Championships will be staged at the recently redeveloped Inverell Aquatic Centre, a $28.6 million facility featuring flexible indoor-outdoor competition pools and modern amenities that support learn-to-swim programs, school carnivals, and major events. The upgrade has positioned Inverell as a premier regional host for major aquatic meets.

Inverell Shire Mayor Kate Dight highlighted the broader benefits of hosting the Championships.

“Hosting the Country Regional Swimming Championships is a wonderful opportunity for Inverell, not just for sport but for the whole community,” Mayor Dight said. “We’re proud to host this event at our state of the art aquatic centre, which will inspire athletes and bring valuable visitors and energy to our region.”

Pam Weste, President of Inverell Swimming Club, expressed excitement about the meet coming to the community.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming swimmers and their families from across NSW to Inverell,” Pam Weste said. “This event will showcase the strength of regional swimming, the enthusiasm of our club volunteers, and the pride our community has in our new aquatic facility.”

Spectators are encouraged to attend what promises to be an exciting weekend of competition and community celebration, with food and seating areas available to ensure a great experience for families and fans alike.
