Inverell Shire Council is taking proactive steps towards addressing strategic challenges for its waste management function, with the reformation of the Waste Management Advisory Committee.
The committee will play a crucial role in investigating priority waste issues and ensuring best practices for the community.
The newly reformed committee Chaired by Cr Greg Kachel, includes Cr Paul King (OAM), Cr Jacko Ross, and Mr Greg Doman (Acting Director Environmental Services). Their collective expertise and leadership will help guide Council’s approach to waste management.
One of the committee’s key areas of focus will be the mandated Food Organics and Garden Organics Collection Service (FOGO).
This State mandated service will require detailed investigation to be able to feasibly deliver to the community.
Mayor Cr Kate Dight emphasised the importance of the committee’s work, stating, “The Waste Management Advisory Committee will provide valuable insight and recommendations on how we can continue to evolve our waste services to meet both community needs and legislative requirements.”
The committee will engage with local stakeholders, industry experts, and residents to assist in the development of effective strategies for waste management. Inverell Shire Council is committed to working towards a cleaner and more sustainable future for the community.
