Inverell Shire Council has sent its condolences to the family Queensland Cross Border Commissioner, Ian Leavers who passed away on Monday
Mayor of Inverell Shire Council, Kate Dight, expressed heartfelt condolences and paid tribute to Mr. Leavers’ outstanding service and dedication, particularly through his work with the Border Region of Councils.
Mayor Dight says his commitment to resolving jurisdictional challenges and improving outcomes for residents across state lines was unwavering adding he brought a unique and practical understanding to the role, shaped by his experience as a former police union president and worked with great determination to deliver meaningful solutions.
The 57-year-old was found at his home in Brisbane on Monday morning after police were called to a Mount Ommaney address with his death not being treated as suspicious.
