Inverell Mayor Frustrated at NSW Health Minister

by | Jun 27, 2024 | Community, Health | 0 comments

Inverell Shire Mayor Paul Harmon says he’s increasingly being frustrated that Council’s request to meet with NSW Health Minister Ryan Park to discuss and address several fundamental issues at Inverell Hospital has been further delayed.

Speaking on STA FM this morning, Mayor Harmon says it’s really disappointing that the Minister seems to have a closed door at the moment adding discussions with Glen Innes Severn Council Mayor Rob Banham confirmed their Shire is also in the same predicament, seeking to meet with the Minister to discuss the state government funding for the Glen Innes Hospital upgrade.

Mayor Harmon says he and General Manager Brett McGuinness will be meeting with the Dept of Health Secretary Luke Sloan on Monday to discuss the issue and hopefully gain a meeting with the Minister.

He says Minister Park cannot continue to dodge them forever as they’ll be confronting him at the next Country mayors Meeting in August where Mr Park will be a guest speaker.

Cr Harmon is also concerned about the possibility of a Clinical Services Plan being introduced to the area which he believes may involve a reduction of health services
