The Northern Inland Premier League 1st Grade Division of Inverell FC are this year’s Major Semi Final winners and through to the Grand Final after defeating Moore Pk in what was dubbed the closest and toughest game of any match from any division this season.
Both sides showed impressive defence skills warding off any attacks from either team for the entire duration of the match with neither team managing to post a score, until with less than 1 minute left till full-time, star player Paul Leo found an opportunity to score, Inverell taking victory 1 NIL.
The 1st Grade team now have hosting rights to the Grand Final which will be played against either Armidale Westside United FC or Moore Creek with a 2nd chance opportunity, the match taking place in front of a bumper crowd at the complex during the Joey’s Mini World Cup Soccer event.
Meanwhile, the reserve grade team weren’t quite as fortunate as the 1sts, going down 2-1 against Oxley Vale Attunga, however have a chance to redeem their loss when they once again hit the road to Tamworth next weekend.
