Acclaimed concert soloist Australian French flautist Jane Rutter has been announced as the
2025 Australia Day Ambassador for Inverell Shire.
With a career that spans decades, Jane has delighted audiences with numerous recitals and recordings, plus concerto,
theatre and TV performances Jane has popularised classical flute.
A household name in Australia she conveys passion and elegance of expression with her trademark onstage warmth.
Soloist, award winning TV presenter, multi-ARIA nominee, one of Who Magazine’s 30 Most Beautiful People, Jane is an Artistic Director, composer and professor who spent three years in Paris under the tutelage of renowned flautists Jean Pierre Rampal Alain Marion.
Jane performs regularly around the world including recitals, concerti, concert theatre, cabaret, special guest and TV appearances. JaneJane’s sublime flute playing has seen her produce 2 5 best-selling albums, with many singles released.
Together with flautist Don Burrows, she pioneered the flute as a percussive instrument (now known as flute beat boxing.
Jane views the music of her flute playing as a tool of reconciliation and unity. She devotes much of her time to mentorship and community. Jane Rutter is proud to be an Australia Day Ambassador.
Jane will attend Australia Day Celebrations in Inverell and Tingha, where she will deliver an Australia Day Address and assist in the awards presentations.
