Inquiry Reveals Harassment & Bullying at Chopper Service

by | Aug 6, 2026 | Helicopter

Workplace safety and staff conduct has been highlighted in a parliamentary inquiry against the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service’s northern NSW operation which includes bases at Belmont, Lismore and Tamworth and its administration at Broadmeadow.

In an item in the Northern Daily Leader, former training coordinator with the service Stacey Price says she was sexually harassed and bullied after she raised concerns about safety compliance.

Ms Price also stated that operational personnel had been performing duties for about two years without having been formally issued the required statements of attainment, even though internal systems recorded the competencies as completed

The Inquiry also recommended that NSW Ambulance not extend its contract with the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service’s northern NSW operation, unless it is satisfied with workplace safety.

The rescue service’s 10-year contract with NSW Ambulance ends in May next year, but there’s a five-year extension option which has not yet been approved.
