The inaugural Inverell Junior Golf Open will take place on Sunday giving kids an opportunity to win $2000 in prizes.

Almost 30 junior golfers have registered to be part of the tournament coming from Goondiwindi, Armidale, Tamworth, Glen Innes and Inverell with organisers hoping coastal kids will also come over for the event.

Ben Davis from the Inverell Golf club says there’ll be various categories on the day with a High School division for kids aged between 13 and 17 and a primary school division and a 9 hole division for newcomers or those without a handicap.

Mr Davis says there’ll be scouts out looking to provide opportunities for junior golfers.

Action kicks off at 9:30 with registrations costing $20.
