A crowd of around 500 consisting of locals and visitors attended to pay their respects and observe the day at Sunday’s Myall Creek Massacre Memorial.
Attendees gathered to commemorate what occurred, on the afternoon of 10 June 1838, with descendants of both the victims and the perpetrators,
Northern Tablelands MP Brendan Moylan wasn’t the only NSW State member to attend the commemorations with Minister for Aboriginal affairs David Harris, Shadow Aboriginal affairs Minister Felicity Wilson, Member for Newcastle Tim Crakanthorp and the member for Auburn Lynda Voltz in attendance.
This year was a special year as The friends of Myall Creek Committee celebrated the 25th anniversary of the annual gathering at the site with special guests Paulette Hayes, Margaret Blacklock, Colin Isaacs and Ted Stubbins all acknowledged for bringing the memorial into being.
