The Central North Rugby season gets underway this weekend with the Inverell Highlanders having a difficult task to open their year.
The Highlanders have a trip to Tamworth on Saturday and a first up mission to tackle the Pirates.
Club President Justin Oakenfull says it’s been a big pre-season for the Club and paid tribute to their men and women on their commitment ahead of the season.
Mr Oakenfull says they’ll head to Tamworth with strong teams and are looking forward to seeing how they fare against the formidable Pirates outfit.
In other round 1 matches, Moree Bulls host Gunnedah and reigning premiers Narrabri travel to Quirindi
