Highlanders’ Handling Errors Prove Costly

by | Apr 28, 2026 | Sport

Inverell Highlanders have been their worst enemies to go down 46-14 in their match against reigning premiers Quirindi Lions on Saturday as part of round 3 of the central North Rugby Competition.

Going into the second half down 17-14, the Highlanders’ handling errors proved costly as the Lions capitalised to run away in the second half.

1st grade coach Gemma Noller says she’s not disappointed at her teams effort and commitment but admits they need to tidy up on a few things.

In other results, Moree Bulls dominated Pirates 68-26 while Narrabi Blue Boars thumped the Gunnedah Red Devils 64-19.

It wasn’t all bad news for the Highlanders, registering a 31-19 win in Reserve grade and a 40-15 win in the Women’s game
