The Inverell Highlanders have suffered their first loss of the season, going down to the Moree Bulls 24-12 at Rugby Park on Saturday in Round 2 of the Central North Rugby competition.
1st grade coach Gemma Noller says it’s disappointing to lose but shows her side is up for the contest against the competition’s best teams.
Noller says it was a very physical game with the Highlanders spending most of the first half defending which sapped their energy but was happier with their 2nd half effort which saw more structure and patience resulting in points.
In other games, reigning premiers Quirindi Lions scrapped through with a 24-22 win over the Narrabri Blue Boars while Pirates bounced back with a 32-10 victory over the Red Devils in Gunnedah.
The Highlanders Reserve Grade and Women’s teams suffered big losses to Moree going down 52-7 in Reserve grade and 54-0 in the Women’s game.
