The Inverell Highlanders first grade team have signed off a disappointing season with a 36-19 loss to reigning premiers the Narrabri Blue Boars in Round 13 results in Central North Rugby competition.
In torrential rain, on a muddy pitch and freezing conditions, Highlanders Coach Gemma Noller says her team showed true grit to compete hard in the conditions after being restricted to 14 fit men for the final 20 minutes.
Noller says it was a solid effort to hold the scoreline to a 19 point difference at the end adding Narrabri were better with their ball handling and gaining territory which ultimately won them the game.
In the match of the round, competition leaders the Gunnedah Red Devils have fought out a tough 23-17 win over the Quirindi Lions.
The Highlanders forfeited the Reserve, Third and Women’s 10 games to the Blue Boars
