Inverell Shire Council Mayor Kate Dight has questioned the merit of splitting Hunter New England Health District after attending a recent Parliamentary Inquiry into the issue.
Mayor Dight says there’s two sides to the coin adding the reality of the health district splitting is very questionable.
Cr Dights says from the community’s perspective, we have to assess the impact the split will have on our specialist services, the impact of the Inverell hospital becoming a training facility and the best way to spend the $110 million dollar that it’s going to cost to split the health district.
She believes collaborations with Hunter New England and council is improving.
