The Inverell Hawks have endured a first half arm wrestle to run away with a 38-18 win over the Glen Innes Magpies at Mead Park on Saturday in Group 19 rugby Leage weekend results.
Hawks 1st grade coach Jamie McCormack says it was a tough first half going in 10-6 at half time before running out to a 38-6 lead in the second half with the Magpies showing some fight scoring two late tries.
McCormack says he was proud of the team’s effort to stay positive despite suffering several injuries during the game.
In other results, Tingha Tigers had a strong win over the Barraba Bulldogs winning 46-22 while the Uralla Tigers claimed a 28-12 win over the Moree Boomerangs
The sole Reserve grade game saw Barraba defeat Tingha 22-4 while in Ladies league tag, Inverell and Glen Innes played out an 18-all draw and Uralla defeated Moree 20-12, and in the Womens Tackle competition, Moree were too good for Uralla winning 48-10
