Inverell Hawks have held on to defeat the Uralla Tigers in a Group 19 Rugby League heavyweight clash at Woodville Oval on Saturday, to remain the only unbeaten side in the competition.
After getting out to a 18-6 halftime lead, the Hawks were kept scoreless and had to withstand a Tigers Revival in the second half but left with the points, recording an 18-16 victory.
1st grade coach Jamie McCormack says to win away from home without several players made the victory the best performance to date.
In other Round 7 results from Saturday, the Tingha Tigers managed a close 20-16 win over the Warialda Wombats at Bob Ward Oval while the Glen Innes Magpies were too strong for the Barraba Bulldogs 46-16
In Reserve grade, Inverell came through with a 20-16 win over Uralla and Tingha were too good for Warialda 32-16
In Ladies League Tag, Inverell defeated Uralla 6-4 in an enthralling game while Glen Innes edged out Barraba 8-4
