Hawks Cruise to Group 19 Premiership Glory

by | Sep 1, 2025 | Sport | 0 comments

Inverell RSM Hawks are the Group 19 rugby league premiers defeating arch-rivals Tingha Tigers 22-12 in the premiership decider at Varley Oval yesterday.

In front of a huge crowd at Varley Oval, Tingha led 8-6 at halftime but two second half tries to man-of-the match Corey Alexander and one to Tyler Connors wrapped up the game for the minor premiers.

A brawl in the dying seconds of the match resulted in two Tingha players being sent from the field with the match called off with seconds remaining.

Hawks 1st grade coach Jamie McCormack was elated with the premiership win adding he may have finished his coaching careers

Tingha Captain Brayden Vickery says his chargers were gallant in defeat and looked the good in the first half but believes 2nd half discipline let them down.

In other grand finals yesterday, Warialda took the reserve grade title 32-26 over Moree Boomerangs, the 18’s saw Glen Innes account for Uralla 42-6, and Tingha received a last-minute fright but held on to beat Moree Boomerangs in Ladies League Tage 18-14 to claim their 4th successive title.
