The Gwydir Shire Council will be holding a Community Election Information Session over 2 evenings, for individuals interested in becoming a candidate in the upcoming Local Government Elections.
The candidate information sessions will focus on these key areas including the benefits and importance of local government, understanding the role of council and the role of councillor, a typical council structure, challenges of the role and how to meet them, the importance of diverse representation on council, importance of speaking out on key issues and how to do this confidently, meeting procedures and rules of debate, and the support available including information and networks.
The Information evenings will be held at The Living Classroom in Bingara Tuesday 6th August from 7pm, and at the Warialda Memorial Hall Tuesday 13th August from 7pm.
