Staggy Creek have finished minor premiers after Glen Innes had a shock loss against Square and Compass at McCosker 2 on Saturday in the final round of the Inverell cricket competition.
Square & Compass won the toss and elected to bat against a Glen Innes team fielding only 9 players which proved to be crucial both in the field and batting.
In a low scoring affair, Square and Compass were bowled out for just 96 inside 25 overs with Sumit Jamwal collecting 5/13 and in reply, Glen Innes were cruising at 2/55 before a batting collapse saw the visitors bowled out for 86.
In the other match, Staggy belted Delungra by 167 runs at Varley Oval to claim the minor premiership.
Tom Nelson with 83 and Mick Kenny with 98 set Delungra a massive 249 runs for victory but it proved to be too much for the bottom side, being bowled out for 81 with Nelson capping off a great game taking 4/15 while Rohan Guest finished with the figures of 3/6.
The first week of the finals this Saturday at 1pm will see Staggy Creek take on Glen Innes at Varley Oval in the Qualifying Final with the winner to advance to the Grand Final while Campbell and Freebairn Rebels plays Square & Compass at McCosker 2 in an Elimination Final
