The temporary closure of the Glen Innes Airport has been extended for major works until 31st of March to allow for essential upgrades and improvements.
The closure, which came into effect last November, was to be completed by the 31st of January
The works include runway rehabilitation on the main bitumen runway, new and upgraded lighting on the main bitumen runway and improved drainage and reshaping of the main runway to enhance water run-off management.
Glen Innes Severn Council is working closely with NSW Health, NSW Ambulance, and NSW Police to ensure aeromedical services and emergency operations continue uninterrupted.
The project is being funded by the NSW Government’s Severe Weather and Floods Grant, the Infrastructure Betterment Fund, and the Australian Government’s Regional Airports Program.
