Glen and Staggy Continue to Dominate Inverell Cricket

by | Jan 19, 2026 | Sport | 0 comments

Warm weather marked the return of local cricketers to the field on Saturday as the Inverell Cricket competition resumed.

It was a low-scoring affair at Varley Oval where Glen Innes rolled Square and Compass by 6 wickets, cementing their top 2 spot on the ladder

Electing to bat, Compass were bowled out for 82 in the 23rd over with Glen Innes bowler Aaron Sheritt finishing with the figures of 3/6 while Sumit Jamwal and Nick Levy claimed two wickets each.

In reply, Glen Innes stumbled early but were able to compose themselves to reach the target in 21 overs.

In the other Round 10 game, Staggy Creek continued their winning ways with a comprehensive 158 run victory over Delungra at McCosker 2.

Rohan Guest led the way with 93 in Staggy’s 2/224 and in reply, Delungra were bowled out for 66 with Henry Oliver claiming 3/7 and Will Marshall 3/24.

The win moves Staggy Creek to 50 points on the ladder, sitting 12 points clear from their nearest rival Glen Innes on 38 points and a step closer to sealing the minor premiership.

There are no games this coming weekend due to Australia Day long weekend.
