Sacred Heart Catholic Church’s assigned priest Fr Paul Chandler is on the move and will take up his next appointment with the Armidale Cathedral.
Fr Paul was first assigned to the Inverell Parish in April 2023 and was later appointed as the acting administrator of Inverell Parish, with pastoral responsibility for the wider region — including the communities of Tingha, Ashford, Yetman, and Bundarra.
Among the difficult decisions he faced was the future of the Bundarra Church and its property and after careful consideration and with a heavy heart, he oversaw its closure and eventual sale due to long-term financial challenges the parish could not sustain.
Fr Paul also worked tirelessly to improve the safety and condition of the church and presbytery — ensuring both maintenance and security standards were met with his efforts to make Eucharistic Adoration and Holy Hours more accessible, leading to a growth in personal devotion among parishioners.
The Parish community thanked Fr Paul for his devoted service, his leadership, and his steadfast heart and wished him well for his next assignment at the Armidale Cathedral which commences on the 5th of January.
