Final preparations are underway for a former Inverell local to take part in the World Junior Sanda Championships in Brunei in September.
16-year-old Mia Szumowski has been selected to represent Australia in the 3-person team and is the only female athlete amongst the trio, with Mia getting her martial arts start at Nick King’s Lifestyle Centre in Inverell from a young age before relocating to Port Macquarie in 2019 and continuing her training.
Mia says she’s been overwhelmed with the support of both the Inverell and Port Macquarie communities, raising money to fund the travel expense overseas.
