Former Inverell golfer Brett Drewitt has finished in the top 30 at the NSW Golf Open played at the Murray Downs Golf and Country Club in a field comprising Aussie superstar Cam Smith.
Drewitt was the clubhouse leader at one stage during the tournament, producing an error-free 66 following the 2nd round in perfect conditions, his round matched by former US Open champion Geoff Ogilvy.
The card-carrying member of the Korn Ferry and PGA tours in the US, Drewitt faded in the final rounds to finish 11 stroke back from eventual winner Lucas Herbert.
Speaking on the NSW Open website, Drewitt says it was definitely nice to be back home and paid tribute to his parents who supported him so much over his career as a junior, driving down to Sydney from Inverell adding being able to play in front of them whenever he can is amazing.
